What label & compliance software costs in 2026

Most tools for makers are inventory suites with a subscription — great if you need COGS and stock tracking, expensive if what you need is a legal label. Published pricing, checked July 2026:

ToolWhat it isPriceFirst yearCompliant label output
InkurateRecipe → print-ready compliant label, every element cited to the CFR$7/label · $19/10 · $99/yr unlimited — no subscription, no account$7–$99Yes — that's the whole product: INCI ordering, warnings, net contents, MoCRA line, 300 DPI
FormulaLedgerInventory + formulas + MoCRA record-keeping$19/mo, + $39/mo for the MoCRA module$228–$696Record-keeping focus; label generation isn't the core
Craftybase / StocksmithMaker inventory & bookkeeping suiteStudio $41/mo; Stocksmith Indie from $83/mo$492+Inventory focus; labels are a side feature
Canva + templatesDesign tool with label templatesFree–$15/mo (+ $5–15 per template)$0–$180No — pretty, but zero compliance logic

To be fair to the suites: if you need inventory, lot tracking and COGS, they do that and Inkurate doesn't. Inkurate does one thing — turn your recipe into a label that follows the actual federal rules — and prices it like the one-time job it usually is. Competitor prices are the vendors' published prices as of July 2026 and may change.

Pricing questions

What exactly is free?

Everything up to printing: the generator, the live compliance check with citations, and a watermarked preview PNG. You only pay when you want the watermark-free, 300-DPI print-ready file and the dated compliance report.

Why is Unlimited $99 a year?

It's for sellers whose catalog keeps moving — every new scent, new size, seasonal batch and reformulation legally needs its own correct label. If you export more than ~15 labels a year, Unlimited is cheaper than the pack — and it includes rule updates, so when a regulation changes your next export already reflects it.

Do credits expire? Is there an account?

Credits don't expire and there's no account: they live in your browser after checkout (Stripe handles payment). Switching devices? Email info@inkurate.com with your receipt and we'll move them.

Is this a Craftybase / FormulaLedger alternative?

For labels, yes: if you're paying a monthly subscription mainly to get compliant labels out of an inventory suite, Inkurate replaces that for $7 a label with the regulation cited on every element. For inventory and bookkeeping, no — different job, keep your suite for that.
